art2day made it onto TV

Michele Havlik - Friday, March 28, 2008
How exciting! I was asked to appear on TV with my art. We are showcasing art2day at the HIA Home show in Melbourne and they loved what we do so much that they featured us at 8am on the Today show on Channel Nine. We have had a huge response on the show, thank you to all the people who came past to have a look at the art.

Can-Can in Paris

Michele Havlik - Wednesday, February 06, 2008

Moulin is my latest creation, inspired by a long ago trip to Paris where I fell in love with everything French. A new development is that I have also made it in a charcoal, black and white version as I have some requests for art in those colors. If you ever want a painting in another color or size just let me know via the contacts page and I will send you a preview image like the ones below of how it could look and a quote on the price for a different size. Thanks to my son for finding a use for his French lessons, I have used the French words for the colors. I think it would look great great to have two colors of the same design next to each other so I have put Moulin Noir and Moulin Rouge here to show how they look together.

Is art2day ethical?

Michele Havlik - Sunday, November 18, 2007
Seeing all the news about how toys are manufactured overseas and the implications behind all the cheap imports, has made me think about what I am doing. From the start of creating art2day I have wanted it to be ethical and honest. I want art to bring joy and happiness into people’s homes and environments.

How am I working towards achieving this? All designs are original artwork created for the online shop and for sale direct to the public through fairs and art/design shows. The canvas is 100% cotton, natural and non-toxic to you and the environment. Inks used are non-toxic pigment inks. These are kind to the environment; there is also no wastage as they are in self-contained recyclable cartridges. The wood used for the stretcher frames is regrowth pine, not some exotic wood from old growth forests. The work is created in a fair and ethical way, not produced in a sweatshop for minimum wages; the designs are original art, not a rip off of some one else’s work, in fact there is more danger that I am being ripped off. The prices are fair, I am making a living not trying to get rich from one sale. There is no middleman so prices are kept as low as possible.

We are all looking for a bargain and it’s ingrained in us, but in the end you pay a high price for any bargain, be it health, human or environment. Do you really know that cheap imported art is not toxic to you in some way, or has not harmed some else in the way it has been produced? You have the power to make a choice, cheaper is not always better. So follow your heart and whatever art you decide to buy, make sure it is going to make you happy, last longer and feel good to give and receive.

Bollywood

Michele Havlik - Tuesday, November 13, 2007
The newest design to go up on the website Bollywood and it comes in three colour choices, Romance, Passion or Intrigue. Milan (my husband) loves it so much he asked me to do him one and he put it above the bed. Strange how he chose Romance, I was betting on Passion, not that I am complaining mind you.

Christmas is coming up

Michele Havlik - Thursday, November 08, 2007
Does my inaugural blog entry have to be profound and insightful? I am not sure I am up to that so it will just have to be me chatting to you.
Christmas is coming up as you may have seen by all the decorations making their way into the shops. Well we have been inspired and have decided to go with a new theme for the xmas tree this year and splashed out on a whole lot of new decorations from Ikea. All in chocolate brown and purple. I can't wait to get the tree up and will post a photo of it when it's done, you may have to wait few weeks for that as I am sure it's way too early for the tree. But, and here comes the sales pitch for my art, it's not too early to order a painting online if you want it before xmas, please don't wait until the last minute as the couriers get very busy and I want to make sure all xmas orders get to you in time. Sales pitch over : )
